COURSE LAYOUT
Hole 1: Page's Pride
The 1st hole is a 363 yard par 4. On the tee the fairway looks wide and straight, but with ditches to the left and right as well as water 200 yards off the tee box getting your club selection right and just left of centre will give you the best approach to the green.
Hole 2: Devil's Dyke
The 2nd hole is the 1st of the 2 par 5's of the course. A good tee shot just towards the left edge of the bunker in the middle of the fairway should give you a straight forward second, leaving you with a shot into a green protected by bunkers, trees and thick rough.
Hole 3: The Heights
The 3rd is a 325 short par 4. From the tee box it might not look tough but teeing off to a raised fairway with a bunker near central and no view of either leave you guessing.
Hole 4: Sit and Wait
The 4th is the first par 3 of 4 and at 194 yards the longest of them. Its very direct as you can see it all but it doesn't make it any easier, as if finding the narrow long green surrounded by traps and hazards wasn't hard enough, the elements can prove the toughest task.
Hole 5: Manor view
The 5th is a 371 yard par 4. A good tee shot is required down a long narrow fairway with bunkers and trees both sides. if you manage to get off the tee a good approach is needed to a green with more bunkers and trees
Hole 6: Big Oak
The 6th hole is 346 yard par 4 with a slight dog leg left. On the tee box you will understand why its called Big Oak. A straight or draw of the tee is best but if you play a fade it might be hit and hope.
Hole 7: Charity
The 7th and 2nd par 3 on the front 9 is 177 yards. It Might not seem long but it plays longer than it looks and with water to carry, bunkers and trees surrounding the green, club selection has to be right.
Hole 8: Church View
The 8th is the second longest par 4 and stroke index 2. At 434 yards with a dog leg left, you'll need 2 good shots to get to the green for a par and your second will have to beat the bunkers to the left, right and front of the green
Hole 9: Valley of Trees
The 9th hole to complete the front 9 is a 358 yard par 4 with a dog leg left. You'll start from an elevated tee looking down at the fairway with a pond to the left, a large bunker to the right and trees either side. Do you take the corner on with the pond and trees or play safe and stay right?
Hole 10: Lone Tree
The start of the back nine the 10th hole is a 357 yard par 4 that plays slightly up hill from tee to green. The hole is straight in front of you with trees either side, a pond towards the left and a single tree in the middle of the fairway. Distance off the tee is key as it might be a lone tree but not a tree you want to be to close to.
Hole 11: Old John
Hole 11 is a 371 yard par 4 that has a sharp dog leg to the left from tee to green. The difficulty lies on the green as it is protected with bunkers, trees and slops due to the greens elevation. Once on the green it has plenty of movement so you'll need to be confident in your putting.
Hole 12: The Water Hole
The first par 3 on the back is 172 yards. Your tee shot is over a pond, uphill to a large green surrounded by bunkers. It might look simple but get it wrong and you'll find it tough to scrabble a par.
Hole 13: The Hazards
Choose your tee shot wisely as for this 317 yard par 4 gives you a clue in the name. Its a straight down hill shot from the tee but you,ll hit from back in the trees to start, over a ditch, trees tight to both sides of the fairway and several bunkers protecting the green. Just pray you don't have to contend with the weather as well.
Hole 14: Birds Corner
The 14th is a long slight uphill 432 yard par 4 that will requirer 2 good shots to hit the green in regulation. It has its own traps and hazards but at stroke index 1 the difficultly lies in the distance as it plays longer than its measured yardage and your second is to a long but narrow green.
Hole 15: The Humber-stone
The 15th is the third hardest hole and a 435 yard par 4. it is similar to the 14th in that it plays long but is more forgiving as you tee off to a very large fairway. It is a dog leg left with bunkers both sides of the fairway to catch your tee shot. Your second is a slight downhill shot to a cove like green with bunkers, trees and growth surrounding both sides and the back.
Hole 16: Hookers Horror
The 16th is the last par 3 and is 172 yards. From the tee you will see a heavily protected green with bunkers both sides and to the front. There are trees off the back and a large pond on the left. If you hit a bad shot hope and pray its to the right and not left.
Hole 17: Hamilton Climb
The 17th is a 360 yard par 4. You'll start with an uphill tee shot to a large fairway and green that you can't see. Once over the hill the hole becomes clear and straight in front of you. So long as you don't find the ditch on the left or bunker on the right you should find the green in 2.
Hole 18: Clubhouse Calls
You'll end the round on a 506 yard par 5 that dog legs to the right. From the tee the fairway is wide and clear with a single bunker. Your second will see the green from way back looking down but do you lay up or take on the captains bunker. Depending on your second you'll find the elevated green with deep bunkers to protect it.
